Two days after a blast near the Red Fort claimed nine lives, sources told NDTV that the terrorists intended to launch a series of strikes in Delhi similar to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. An investigation into the Monday evening explosion has shown that prominent landmarks in the nation's capital, such as the Red Fort, India Gate, Constitution Club, and the Gauri Shankar Temple, were on the target. In addition, action is being planned at train stations and shopping centers across the nation.
The Taj Mahal Hotel, the Oberoi Trident Hotel, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and Leopold Hospital were among the twelve locations where gunfire and bombs occurred concurrently on November 26, 2008, during the Mumbai attacks.
The Conspiracy in Delhi
Since January, there had been a conspiracy in Delhi. According to the reports, the terror module had been preparing the attack for months and was probably connected to the Jaish-e-Mohammed organization in Pakistan. In order to target prominent locations in Delhi, Gurugram, and Faridabad, the gang has been building 200 potent Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), or explosives to put it more simply.
According to the sources, certain radicalized doctors from Pulwama, Shopian, and Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir were selected for the position due to their "white collar" cover, and the terrorists were planning to create communal tensions by striking religious sites. They quickly set up shop in Faridabad.
Since they were physicians, they could travel around the NCR with ease and without drawing attention to themselves. In order to keep their actions undetected, they then rented rooms in the Dhauj and Fatehpur Taga neighborhoods to hide the explosives.
The Suspects
Three doctors, Shaheen Saeed, Muzammil Shakeel Ganale, and Adeel Rather, are among the suspects detained. The suicide bomber who perished in the explosion on November 10 is thought to have been Dr. Umar Nabi. Three other physicians who collaborated with Dr. Saeed at the Al-Falah University in Faridabad were also arrested but are probably going to be freed.
CCTV footage this morning revealed that the explosion happened on a Hyundai i20 in slow-moving traffic during evening rush hour close to the Red Fort Metro Station. The high-intensity explosion resulted in at least nine fatalities and around two dozen injuries.
According to Muzammil, who was detained with 2,900 kg of bomb-making explosives, the terrorists had previously planned to attack a crowded location around Diwali, but it was not possible.
He had been in contact with Saeed while they were both employed at Al-Falah. After an assault rifle and ammo were discovered in Saeed's vehicle, she was taken into custody. Later on, it was discovered that she was responsible for organizing the Jaish-e-Mohammad women's brigade.
