Sweden's highest distinction for a head of state, the Royal Order of Polar Star, was given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
This is Prime Minister Modi's 31st international award.
The award is the greatest honour that a head of government can get.
According to the official website, the Royal Order of the Polar Star was established in 1748 with the goal of honouring individual efforts for Sweden or Swedish interests, notably in public actions, as well as the effective completion of public obligations and duties.
Modi's two-day visit to Sweden began on Sunday. Ulf Kristersson, his Swedish counterpart, met him at the airport in Gothenburg.
