The Nowgam police station explosion was unintentional: Home Ministry of the Union

The explosion inside a police station in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was unintentional and occurred as samples were being taken for forensic analysis, according to the Union Home Ministry on Saturday.
Explosive samples obtained from the Faridabad module of doctors engaged in the Red Fort blast case were kept in the police Nowgam station. For the past two days, the police station has been conducting a sampling procedure. From Faridabad, the explosives were transferred. Explosives and chemicals are kept outdoors in the police station.
At least nine people were killed, twenty-seven were injured, and the police station's property was totally destroyed in Friday night's explosion.

A massive cache of chemicals and explosive materials was also found during the investigation of PS Nowgam's FIR No. 162/2025. The recovery was safely stored in the police station's open space. The investigation's many agencies are collaborating in a coordinated and methodical manner.
The officer described the large explosion that occurred inside the Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir at 11:30 p.m. on Friday as "accidental."
" The collected chemical and explosives samples were being sent for additional forensic and chemical analysis in accordance with regular and prescribed protocol. The aforementioned process has been continuously attended to for the past two days by adhering to normal operating procedure due to the extensive recuperation.

Recovery was being carefully managed under professional supervision due to its delicate and unstable character. However, he claimed that at around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, an unintentional explosion occurred during the procedure.
Nine persons have died in the blast, while three civilians, two revenue officials, and 27 police officers have been injured.
In addition to the serious damage to the police station's structure, other nearby buildings have also sustained damage. The accident's cause is being looked into. But there's no need to speculate further about what caused this catastrophe," he stated.
