On Thursday, an Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus driver saved the lives of 25 passengers by safely pulling the driving bus to the wayside before passing away from a heart attack while on duty. The driver, P. Saikrishna, experienced excruciating chest pain close to Kunduli while driving an OSRTC bus from Vizianagaram to Malkangiri. He was able to carefully stop the bus despite the immediate discomfort, averting a potentially catastrophic collision.
The ambulance service was promptly notified by an additional driver and staff on board. However, the conductor used an autorickshaw to transport him to Koraput Medical College after learning that the ambulance would be delayed. While receiving therapy, Saikrishna was pronounced dead.
Because of his prompt action, none of the 25 passengers on the bus were hurt. The deceased driver lived in Malkangiri.
