aThe scar of being apart! The cremation of a 60-year-old Odisha woman was postponed by three days due to marital conflict! A 60-year-old woman's body has not been cremated for three days due to a personal promise rather than an official delay in this poignant and ironic tale. The town of Balasore has been profoundly affected by the catastrophe.
According to reports, the deceased, known as Chhabirani Dey, passed away early on Sunday morning after a heart attack. Srustidhar Dey, a former regional manager of a nationalized bank and her separated husband, allegedly declined to carry out her funeral rites. He stated that he would not participate in any funeral customs because the couple had already been officially separated.
Locals stepped in and convinced him to at least remain close to the mortal remains until their sole son, who is currently in Canada, returned to India. The couple's connection has been clouded, according to the villagers, by their turbulent marriage and years of separation.
After their breakup, Srustidhar reportedly got married again.
The deceased body of Chhabirani remains in a glass coffin as the family awaits the arrival of the lone son; it serves as a chilling reminder of love gone cold and a relationship that remains unresolved even after death.
"After several fights, I had divorced her. Additionally, the required documentation had been completed in court. After hearing the news, I got here, but I've been arrested by the villagers. The old man remarked, "They are making me perform the final rites."
Srustidhar continued, "I do not deny to cremate her body on humanitarian grounds."
The elderly man (Srustidhar) has been arrested by the locals and forced to perform the final rites before leaving because the woman has no other family members. "He needs to fulfill his responsibilities as the husband," said Bidyapati Patra, a local.
