In a major boost to the state’s international aviation footprint, the much-awaited direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi was inaugurated on Thursday.
Operated by IndiGo Airlines, this marks the fourth international route from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), after Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok.
The move is expected to significantly enhance air connectivity for the Odia diaspora, particularly in the Gulf region.
The introduction of this route is part of Odisha’s broader push to position Bhubaneswar as a strategic aviation hub in eastern India.
With growing international demand and strong domestic expansion, the new flight offers both convenience and new economic opportunities for the state.
