Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi demolished the legendary Mumbai Indians bowling attack in IPL 2026 on Tuesday with incredible power-hitting. In a rain-shortened 11-over-a-side match in Guwahati, the duo helped Rajasthan Royals reach 150 for 3 wickets. Jaiswal (77 not out off 32 balls) and Sooryavanshi (39 off 14) hit a flurry of boundaries, including a combined nine sixes, in an opening partnership of 82 runs in five overs. RR won the match by 27 runs after MI scored 123/9 in 11 overs. Jaiswal anchored the innings with authority, combining elegance and brute force as he hit 10 fours and four sixes, dominating terms from the beginning. Sooryavanshi's rapid knock featured five sixes, two of which came off Jasprit Bumrah.
With those five maximums, Sooryavanshi broke the IPL record held by Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant (30 apiece) for the most sixes before turning 20. He currently has 35 sixes throughout the tournament. Sooryavanshi is the only adolescent to score over 30 sixes in the IPL.
With the match trimmed to 11 overs per side, Jaiswal came out with a clear intent, destroying Deepak Chahar in the first over and scoring 22 runs with a succession of bold strokes. The over included a beautiful four to midwicket, a booming six, and three more boundaries, laying the groundwork for the attack.
Teen sensation Sooryavanshi matched his senior partner stroke for stroke, exhibiting surprising poise as he faced Bumrah (0/32 in 3 overs), dispatching him for a six before following up with another towering shot over deep square leg.
Jaiswal then welcomed Trent Boult (0/22 in 1 over) with three sixes, as the duo took full advantage of the powerplay, racing to 59 in only 3.2 overs in a highlight-reel start.
While Hardik Pandya (0/17 in 2 overs) slipped in a clean four-run over, the Royals' openers continued to punish anything loose from the MI pacers.Shardul Thakur took the brunt of the punishment next, giving two sixes and a four to the rampaging Sooryavanshi before having the final laugh, with Tilak Varma making a brilliant catch at deep extra cover to cap the youngster's sensational appearance.
The Mumbai Indians clawed back briefly through Allah Ghazanfar (2/21), who trapped Dhruv Jurel (2) leg-before and then caught Riyan Parag (20) at long-on.
However, Jaiswal remained undeterred, dominating the bowling with ease. He scored a sparkling half-century off just 23 balls with a superb cut through point before completing the innings with another boundary to push the Royals to 150 runs.
