On Tuesday, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) organized a 12-hour bandh that stopped daily activities in the Keonjhar district. The purpose of the bandh, which is scheduled to take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., is to demand the identification and removal of accused troublemakers and infiltrators from the district.
Except for necessary services, stores, marketplaces, schools, and the majority of cars stayed off the road. There were major disruptions and shutdowns in major towns like Keonjhar city, Champua, Joda, Barbil, Patna, Ghasipura, and Anandapur.
Early in the morning, VHP leaders and supporters were observed picketing at numerous areas, enforcing the bandh and encouraging people to keep businesses closed. Commuters experienced inconvenience as public and private transportation remained mostly stopped.
Even though the bandh has so far mostly been peaceful, there has been a significant police presence in key areas to uphold law and order.
"Our folks are being disturbed by the Bangladeshi infiltrators. Tusharkant Samant, the VHP district president, said, "We demand that the district administration identify the intruders and drive them away from the district and state."
"The intruders are harassing our daughters and women," stated VHP leader Monalisa Das. In order to demand their deportation, we have taken to the streets. We will step up our protest if our demands are not fulfilled.
