Late Wednesday night, a massive fire broke out at Tarini Market in Kalinga Studio Square in Bhubaneswar's Bharatpur region, causing serious damage to multiple shops and instilling fear in the community.
According to initial accounts, the fire broke out between 12:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m., quickly spreading over the market area. The fire gutted more than 15 establishments, causing severe property loss.
Firefighters went to the scene shortly after getting the notice and commenced an operation to contain the flames. While firefighters were eventually able to control the fire, some store structures had already suffered significant damage by the time the blaze was extinguished.Extensive Property Loss
Among the businesses impacted was a furniture store, which was completely destroyed by the fire. The business owner reported that furniture worth around Rs 3 lakh, which was ready for delivery, was converted to ashes in the incident.
The shopkeeper also reportedly suffered minor burns while attempting to rescue cash from the blazing building.
Suspicions have been raised, and a probe is underway.
Meanwhile, a local citizen claimed that the occurrence appeared strange and speculated that the fire may have been staged. The local said that merchants in the neighborhood had previously received numerous warnings from the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) about the construction of a footpath nearby.Police have initiated an inquiry into the event, but the specific cause of the fire has yet to be discovered. Authorities stated that all conceivable angles are being investigated.
