A complaint submitted at the Bhadrak Rural Police Station on Tuesday claims that a young girl was kidnapped and transported to another state to be married off to an elderly man.
When the girl refused to consent to the marriage, the accused allegedly beat her and bound her hands and legs before leaving her by the side of the road.
The girl was kidnapped after a woman phoned her to her home, according to the lawsuit. After that, she was supposedly forced to marry an elderly guy after being transported by train to a different state.
The accused allegedly physically tortured the girl when she refused. The offender escaped when the girl was taken back to Odisha and removed from the road due to increased police pressure.
Statement from the Police Record
Since then, police have taken note of the minor's statement and started a thorough investigation into the claims. Officers are identifying every person involved in the alleged kidnapping and attempted forced marriage, as well as confirming the chronology of events.
"The girl was rescued and her statement was recorded," stated Anshuman Dwivedi, Bhadrak Additional SP. Based on her statement, our investigation will proceed, and those accountable will face consequences.
According to the police, after the investigation is complete and all the evidence has been reviewed, more action will be taken.
