In a remarkable feat of devotion and talent, 10-year-old singer Master Aditya G Nair has become the youngest artist in the world to perform and curate a full-length rendition of the Shree Ganpati Atharvashirsha in its original Sanskrit form. The powerful and melodious version of the sacred hymn, traditionally chanted for wisdom and the removal of obstacles, will premiere globally on June 9, 2025 at 9:00 AM IST on Aditya Nair Productions’ official YouTube channel.
A Young Voice Revives an Ancient Language
Rendered in Sanskrit—revered for its spiritual vibration and phonetic depth—Aditya’s interpretation blends vocal excellence with deep-rooted cultural understanding. His rendition stands out not only for its accuracy but also for the emotion and maturity he brings to the performance, making it accessible to younger audiences discovering India’s ancient heritage.
"I remember my late grandfather, Dr. K S R Nair, chanting the Shree Ganpati Atharvashirsha and encouraging me to join him. That’s how I became familiar with Sanskrit. With my father’s help, I practised every line and finally recorded it in the studio. It was difficult, but deeply rewarding," said Aditya, reflecting on his journey.
The Shree Ganpati Atharvashirsha, a revered hymn attributed to Rishi Atharva and part of the Atharvaveda, honours Lord Ganesha as the Supreme Deity, encompassing the essence of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. While its liturgical significance is widely acknowledged, some scholars suggest its origins may trace back to the 16th or 17th century.
Music with Devotion and Depth
Music director Kishor Mohite, who composed the piece, expressed admiration for Aditya’s dedication, "This was a challenging composition. I am very happy and grateful to God that Aditya brought it to life exactly as envisioned. His devotion and sincerity made it truly special."
Aditya’s contribution goes beyond singing. He was actively involved in the creative curation process, working closely with musicians, sound engineers, and mentors to ensure the final product matched his devotional vision. This hands-on approach is rare for an artist of his age and reflects his artistic integrity.
Building on a Legacy of Devotional Excellence
Already recognised for his versatility in Hindi, Marathi, and Malayalam devotional music, Aditya has shared the stage with renowned artists including Vaishali Samant, Uttara Kelkar, Vandana Gupte, Padma Shri Rahul Deshpande, and Padma Shri Kaithapuram Damodaran Namboothiri. His earlier release, “Kanni Ayyappan”, received wide acclaim and established him as a rising star in the devotional music space.
Produced by Guru Nair Productions, this project not only marks a significant personal milestone for Aditya but also represents a revival of Sanskrit hymns for modern audiences. It invites young listeners to reconnect with spiritual traditions through music, serving as a bridge between the ancient and the contemporary.
