After leading India into the ICC Women's ODI World Cup final with a historic five-wicket victory over reigning champions Australia at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, Jemimah Rodrigues dedicated her career-defining innings to religion, family, and perseverance.
"I want to thank Jesus first. According to Rodrigues, who won Player of the Match for her undefeated 127, "I couldn't have carried it alone."

"The past six months have not been easy. I have been crying every day since I was eliminated from this World Cup last year. I was experiencing anxiety. All I needed to do was show up each day, and God saw me through.
After losing openers Shafali Verma (10) and Smriti Mandhana (24) cheaply, India faltered early in their chase for a daunting 339. However, displaying poise and maturity beyond her years, Rodrigues teamed up with captain Harmanpreet Kaur to lead one of the most memorable chases in World Cup history.
The match was completely changed by their 167-run partnership for the third wicket, which was India's highest in any World Cup knockout encounter and the highest ever against Australia.
