Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir plan to remove Rishabh Pant from the ODIs. Report Discloses Replacement

Due to his difficulties in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant is reportedly going to be dismissed from India's ODI squad. Sanju Samson may take Pant's place as India's backup wicketkeeper-batter because Pant is no longer considered for the T20I squad. KL Rahul is now in the lead in the competition for the main position. During India's most recent ODI match at home against New Zealand in January, Pant was the second choice; however, due to an injury, Dhruv Jurel took his spot halfway through the series.
Samson has surpassed Pant as Rahul's backup in the ODI team, while Jurel is still a possibility, according to a report in Dainik Jagran.According to the report, Samson's impressive batting performance in both the ongoing IPL and the recently ended T20 World Cup has drawn the attention of selectors.
Samson has now scored 304 runs in eight games during his first season with the Chennai Super Kings, smashing two hundreds.
Samson has scored 510 runs in 14 innings at an average of 56.67, including one century and three fifties, despite having few opportunities in one-day cricket.Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir have their sights set firmly on the major tournament, with India scheduled to play 20 ODIs in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia before to the 2027 World Cup.

The next ODI series between India and Afghanistan is set to begin on June 14. Pant's spot in Test cricket is still certain despite his difficulties in white-ball cricket.
Pant has only amassed 189 runs at an average of 27 in eight IPL 2026 games for the Lucknow Super Giants, including one half-century.
