Amaravati According to official sources, the Andhra Pradesh government has received approval from the Expert Appraisal Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change to draft Terms of Reference for building seven water aerodromes throughout the state, including one in Visakhapatnam.
The implementing organization for the aerodromes, Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Ltd., has contacted the Ministry to request approval to prepare the terms of reference for the projects. Applying for environmental clearance begins with the permission.
In addition to Visakhapatnam, the government reportedly submitted plans to build aerodromes at Jalaput Lake and Sileru-Lambasing of Alluri Sitharama Raju District, Srisailam in Nandyal district, Kakinada, Prakasam Barrage at Vijayawada, and Gandikota in YSR Kadapa district.
"Under specific circumstances, the EAC advised creating ToRs for each of the seven aerodromes. At Konaseema, Araku, and Tirupati, we intend to build three further water aerodromes. The sources told PTI, "We are locating land for these three water aerodromes."
According to reports, the state government will hold a public hearing in a month and submit an application for environmental clearance based on the results of the hearing.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has not been engaged by the Project Proponent regarding the project's development, despite the EAC's recommendation to prepare a ToR for the Vizag Water Aerodrome.
The committee also pointed out that the PP had suggested use the same canal that the Navy has been using."The PP shall obtain a NoC from the Ministry of Defence to ensure that the proposed activities do not interfere with or compromise defence-related operations in the vicinity," the EAC stated as a condition.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, and any other relevant authorities must provide the PP with all necessary NoCs and statutory clearances, according to the EAC.
A seaplane demonstration flight from Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada to Srisailam in Nandyal district was initiated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu last year.
Large bodies of water, such rivers and seas, are used to build water aerodromes. Water is used during aircraft takeoff and landing.
