On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu will jointly launch development projects in Odisha valued at over ₹47,600 crore, according to officials.
Murmu, who came in the state on Friday night, will attend the event with the prime minister at Rairangpur in the Mayurbhanj district. This is the first time that both leaders would take part in a development program together.
On the second anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha, the projects—which cover areas including electricity, industrial infrastructure, highways, drinking water, health, education, tourism, and irrigation—are being launched.
The measures are intended to improve energy security, connectivity, infrastructure, and employment prospects throughout the state, according to an official release.

"Reflecting the prime minister's vision of inclusive and holistic development, these initiatives will accelerate growth in tribal and rural regions and extend the benefits of development to every corner of the state," the statement stated.
The 600-MW Upper Indravati pumped storage project and the Stage-II extension of the IB Thermal Power Station, which consists of two 660-MW units, are two of the key projects for which foundation stones will be set.
Additionally, the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project in Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda district, will have its foundation stone placed.

Other projects include a 300-tonne-per-day municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Kathajodi river connecting Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, widening and strengthening of the Dhalpur-Harbhanga road in Boudh district, four-laning of the Nuapada-Ghatipada section of NH-353, the Kusumdihi mega lift irrigation project, an IGNOU regional centre and an indoor badminton complex at Rairangpur.
Additionally, two railway multi-tracking projects valued at over ₹732 crore would be dedicated to the country by PM Modi.
Built at a cost of ₹323 crore as part of the Bhadrak-Nergundi multi-tracking project, the 19-km Jakhapura-Jajpur Keonjhar Road-Baitarani Road multi-tracking project is anticipated to increase passenger and freight circulation and reduce traffic on the severely trafficked Howrah-Chennai main line.

Completed at a cost of ₹409 crore as part of the Budhapank-Salegaon multi-tracking project, the 27-km Hindol Road-Meramandali multi-tracking project would improve train handling capacity and enable more efficient transportation of coal, steel, power-sector inputs, and other industrial commodities.
Additionally, Modi will open nine automated testing centers in various districts, 24 Atal bus stops, and a 300-bed district headquarters hospital complex in Boudh.The Nayagarh town bypass on NH-57, the Kusumi Smart Irrigation Project's underground pipeline component, and a sports complex and tribal research center in Rairangpur are among the other projects that will be inaugurated.
