At least 19 people are killed when two buildings fall in Fez, Morocco: Report

Two buildings collapsed in Morocco's Fez city early on Wednesday, killing at least 19 people and injuring at least a dozen more, according to AFP news agency, which cited the Moroccan news agency Maghreb Arab Press Agency.
Two nearby four-story buildings collapsed on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, causing the incident in the Fez prefecture.
Eight families lived in the two buildings, according to a Reuters story. The incident is reported to have injured at least sixteen individuals.
The most recent event follows demonstrations against public services and poverty that broke out in Morocco due to subpar living circumstances.
"Sixteen other people were wounded, with varying degrees of gravity," according to MAP.

The state news agency reported that while search and rescue efforts continued around the clock to locate anyone who might still be trapped beneath the debris, the injured were sent to the university hospital center in Fez.
