A day after actor-politician Vijay's newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) defeated them in the 2026 assembly elections, outgoing Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin stated on Tuesday that his party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has been in power multiple times and that there is "no defeat that they have not faced".
Stalin, who became chief minister in 2021 and lost his Kolathur stronghold to TVK's VS Babu in his first election defeat in 35 years, has also tendered his resignation to Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the state governor.
"The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has held power six times. Stalin, who was first elected as an MLA in 1989, said on X in Tamil, "There is no victory we have not seen; there is no defeat we have not faced."
"We shall always be careful to ensure that our philosophy is not undermined in the political public sphere. "Those who treat them equally and pursue their goals regardless of the outcome are the party's allies," he declared.
Stalin, 73, has been a member of parliament for seven terms, winning Kolathur three times and the Thousand Lights Assembly constituency four times. An Insult to Vijay's TVK
MK Stalin also made fun of Vijay's TVK, the newcomer that surprised everyone by winning 108 of 234 seats and becoming the largest party. He said that TVK only received 17.43 lakh more votes than the DMK alliance, which won 74 seats.
"The percentage difference in votes between us and them is just 3.52 per cent," he stated, seemingly referring to the TMK.
According to him, the DMK coalition received 1.54 crore votes.Stalin, whose party won 59 seats, stated, "In my opinion, the trust that the people of Tamil Nadu have placed in us is strong."
"I consider each and every one of your votes as an invaluable token of trust," he said.We will create plans for the populace if we are the ruling party. We would fight for the demands of the people if we are the opposition party. Stalin declared that they will "win again" and added, "In that regard, now as a strong opposition party, we will continue the politics for the people."
