Betrayal, pornographic movies, and anger: Why a 21-year-old killed her Delhi lover

The dark secret that led to one of Delhi's most unsettling killings this year has been exposed by the discovery of pornographic videos of more than 15 women on a hard drive. After discovering that her 32-year-old lover, a UPSC candidate, had covertly recorded intimate films of her and refused to remove them, a 21-year-old forensic science student from Moradabad killed him, according to the police.
What started out as a trusting relationship turned into a vicious cycle of anger and betrayal, culminating in a murder that authorities claim was meticulously planned. According to reports, the woman staged the murder as an accident and destroyed the evidence by drawing on her experience in forensic science and her interest in crime programs.

Police said the woman recruited another man, an LPG distributor, and her ex-boyfriend to do the crime. The three are accused of confronting, assaulting and strangling the victim with a mobile charger cable at his flat in Gandhi Vihar, north Delhi, on the evening of October 5.
They opened the gas regulator, poured alcohol and oil over the body and set the flat on fire to make it appear as though it had been an accident.
They caused an unintentional fire by opening the gas regulator and lighting a lighter. The victim's head was in close proximity to the cylinder. The body was totally burned when the cylinder exploded and the fire spread an hour or so later, according to a senior police official.

The man's burned body was discovered in his fourth-floor apartment the following morning. At first, the incident was handled as a case of careless fire behaviour. However, a complaint from the victim's cousin and discrepancies in the burn patterns led authorities to look more.
Prior to the fire, two males and a woman were seen entering the flat on CCTV, and the lady left soon after. Police in Moradabad apprehended the woman on October 18, her ex-boyfriend on October 21, and their associate two days later after using technical surveillance and phone tracking.
A hard drive with pornographic films on it
A hard drive seized from the flat changed the trajectory of the investigation. According to the police, it included pornographic videos of over fifteen women.

It seems that the deceased recorded their private movies on his laptop and had done the same with several women. The hard drive has been confiscated, but the laptop has not yet been recovered," an official informed HT.
To identify the women and ascertain whether the recordings were consenting, forensic specialists are reviewing the material. Police warned that new accusations of voyeurism and invasion of privacy might be brought if the case turned out to be different.
The reason behind the murder
When the woman approached her partner and he refused to remove her films, investigators think she was overcome with humiliation.

She felt violated and deceived. According to a senior officer, she was able to plot the murder and make it seem like an accident because to her understanding of forensic science.
