Chai Break, a café on the third level of BMC Bhawani Mall in Bhubaneswar, was sealed by the Commissionerate Police on Monday due to accusations of illicit hookah-related activity there.
Sources claim that the café used hookah services to engage in illegal drug-related operations. Saheed Nagar police raided the store and sealed it after receiving specific information about illegal activity. Hookah pipes and other unpleasant objects were taken from the café by police during the operation.
According to police officials, the action was part of a stepped-up effort to prevent unlawful intoxication and guarantee adherence to established standards.
Chai Break's management, meanwhile, has vehemently refuted the accusations. A café employee asserted that just food was being provided and that no illicit activity was occurring at the location.
"There is no illicit activity taking place here. Our restaurant serves only food. Other eateries are also facing similar measures. The employee stated, "Our establishment operates with all valid licenses and permissions."
In the meantime, neither the Commissionerate Police nor the Excise Department have made an official comment about the nature of the seized goods or the following steps in the legal process.
