Congress, Raijor Dal Form Alliance, State Party Wins 11 Seats.

After days of negotiations and uncertainty, the Congress and Raijor Dal agreed on seat-sharing agreements for the Assam assembly elections, with the national party leaving 11 constituencies for the other, and a friendly contest in two. The deal was struck late Thursday night in Jorhat by leaders of both parties, led by state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi.
Akhil Gogoi will run from Sivasagar, a seat he won in the previous election while still in prison on sedition charges for allegedly inciting violence during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) demonstrations.Raijor Dal will contest the following seats: Dalgaon, Dhing, Sissiborgaon, Digboi, Bokakhat, Manas, Tezpur, and Kaliabor, with friendly contests in Goalpara (East) and Gauripur.
The party has nominated Gyanashree Bora, a lady from the Mariani constituency.
The opposition alliance now includes six parties: Congress, Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), CPI(M), All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC), and CPI(ML).
The Congress has revealed a complete list of 87 seats, with the AJP contesting 10 and the CPI(M) and APHLC contesting two apiece.
Gaurav Gogoi praised the Raijor Dal president, his team, and everyone who helped make the coalition possible.

"It is not easy for a party like Congress to give up seats, but the national leadership agreed in the interest of the state and its future," the state congressman added.'After reviewing the ground realities and being pleased with our responses to the high command's questions, it was decided that the alliance would take place," he added.
Gaurav Gogoi stated that numerous elements of society, particularly certain well-known civil society leaders, played a significant role in ensuring that the coalition occurred in the best interests of the state and its people.

He encouraged everyone to support all candidates from the alliance's six parties. We have numerous ambitions and goals for creating a new Assam that ensures the development of everyone, not just one individual and his family," Gogoi stated.
People in Assam want to be rid of Himanta Biswa Sarma's "low level of politics," in which he utilises fear and threats to coerce people in order to retain power, he alleged.
The Raijor Dal president stated that they have resolved to contest the elections together in order to depose the BJP government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma and install Gaurav Gogoi as chief minister.

"People in Assam are dissatisfied with the BJP-RSS because they have changed the social fabric of the state, and there is a need to overthrow Sarma's undemocratic, corrupt, and communal government," he stated.
Akhil Gogoi asked Jorhat voters to vote for the Congress president, citing a "historic opportunity to elect the state's future CM and help build a new Assam."Jorhat will get a chief minister, and the entire state will get a young leader who has created a name for himself on the national stage," he remarked.
Raijor Dal is fighting only 13 seats in the interest of the people and the state's future to secure the BJP's loss, he stated.
