Around 8:15 a.m. on Friday, Pintu Das, the former mayor and main suspect in the Pitabas Panda murder case, was moved from the Berhampur Circle Jail in Odisha to the Phulbani Jail. After worries about his safety were voiced, the transfer was conducted under strict protection.
According to reports, security concerns and the petition filed with the court played a role in the decision to relocate Pintu Das. Authorities at the jail attested that all the safety measures were taken and the transfer process went without a hitch. The goal of the action is to keep more events from happening within the facility and to protect the accused while the inquiry is ongoing.
Senior Attorneys Suggested for the Matter
In the meantime, the prosecution will be represented by an independent government attorney in the well-known Pitabas Panda murder case. In a letter to the CID-CB Director General, the Berhampur Superintendent of Police suggested hiring two senior government solicitors from the Orissa High Court.
Senior solicitors Abinash Padhi and Kalicharan Mishra have been suggested to oversee the proceedings, according to the message.
The famous Anjana Mishra case was previously handled by Kalicharan Mishra, a former Additional Legal Advisor to the CBI. Additionally, Abinash Padhi has a great deal of experience handling a variety of criminal cases. According to sources, the Berhampur SP suggested that both be chosen to oversee the case's judicial processes because of their backgrounds.
The case's high-profile nature
13 people, including former Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda and former Mayor Shibashankar Das, have been taken into custody by police in relation to the Pitabas Panda murder case. According to reports, more than fifty solicitors submitted vakalatnamas on Bikram Panda's behalf.
According to reports, authorities are taking extra precautions to prevent any failures during the investigation or judicial procedure because of the delicate and well-publicized nature of the case. Senior solicitors have been formally advised to be involved in the case in order to guarantee the prosecution's strength.
