ECoR is investing more than Rs 22 crore to renovate Odishas Hirakud Railway Station.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced an investment of over ₹22 crore for the comprehensive renovation and modernization of the Hirakud Railway Station in Odisha. This significant upgrade is part of ECoR's ongoing efforts to improve passenger amenities and enhance the overall infrastructure of key stations across its network.

The redevelopment plan includes the construction of a modern station building equipped with upgraded waiting areas, improved sanitation facilities, and better lighting and seating arrangements. Platforms will be widened and resurfaced, with provisions for improved drainage and shelter. Accessibility features such as ramps, tactile pathways for the visually impaired, and upgraded signage are also part of the project.

Digital displays, CCTV surveillance, and energy-efficient systems will be installed to enhance safety and convenience. The renovated station is expected to provide a more comfortable and efficient experience for daily commuters as well as long-distance travelers.

Hirakud Railway Station serves as a key transit point for local passengers in western Odisha. The planned renovation is seen as a crucial step in boosting regional connectivity and supporting the state’s economic development through improved rail infrastructure.

The project is expected to be completed in phases over the coming months.
