Eight citizens of Bangladesh were found guilty of staying illegally in India.

Thane Eight Bangladeshi nationals were found guilty by a Kalyan court of living unlawfully in various sections of Thane district and were sentenced to nine months of hard labor.
The court stated in the ruling rendered in four cases on December 5 that although the accused, who entered a guilty plea, were subject to punishment, a "humanitarian view" was also necessary given their circumstances.
In April 2025, the suspects were taken into custody.
They were found guilty under the Foreigners Act of 1946 and the Immigration and Foreigners Act by additional sessions judge S G Inamdar. Each of them was also fined ₹1,000 by the court.

Since the accused entered a guilty plea, they are subject to the punishment stipulated by the law. However, it is important to remember that the accused were unable to even explain to the court how they entered Indian territory without any documentation because of their poverty, ignorance, and illiteracy. The court stated, "This situation calls for a humanitarian perspective for imposing the punishment.
Five years is the maximum penalty allowed for the offenses for which the suspects were found guilty.
Majida Rasul Shaikh was detained from Kalyan, while Moyna Gazi Urf Moyna Masjid Sardar, Amina Jahangir Gazi, Shehnaz Mohammad Ali Sardar, and Nargis Mohammad Sardar were arrested from Dombivli.

Additionally detained from Kalyan were Mohammad Shanto Yunus Mulla, a painter, and his spouse, Sumi Mohammad Shanto Mulla, a beautician.
Ulhasnagar laborer Noor Monu Pathan was taken into custody.
The court stated that after the accused has served their entire term, the jail superintendent would work with the investigating officer to take the appropriate actions to deport them in accordance with the law.
The case against the fugitive accused Taukir Mohammad Gulammudin Aalam is still pending.
