India has successfully fought terrorism, according to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, who stated that the last significant event occurred in 2013. Doval said that it has been safe from terrorist assaults throughout the entire country, with the exception of Jammu & Kashmir.
"There is no disputing the facts; they are facts. This nation has successfully combated terrorism. The last major act of terrorism in the hinterland occurred in 2013, and the first occurred on July 1, 2005. The entire country has been safe from terrorist strikes, with the exception of Jammu and Kashmir, which had been the scene of a covert or proxy war for Pakistan, which is an other matter entirely. An attempt was made. Arrests were made.
In his Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture on Governance, Doval was quoted by the ANI news agency as saying, "Explosives are recovered."
He claimed that even though adversaries were active, terrorist attacks have happened in the hinterland and that the amount of "left-wing extremism" has decreased to less than 11% of regions compared to 2014.
Doval described recent instances of turbulence in India's bordering countries as instances of "poor governance." "In actuality, the history of the great empires, monarchies, oligarchies, aristocracies, and democracies is defined by their rise and demise. In reality, the recent instances of regime transition in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and other countries through non-constitutional means were instances of bad governance. And that's why governance is important," he stated.
"The country is lucky to report that there have been no terrorist incidents in the hinterland, despite the fact that enemies have continued to be quite active. Compared to 2014, less than 11% of localities are now home to left-wing extremism. "The majority of the districts that were previously identified as being prone to left-wing extremism have been deemed safe," Doval stated.
India can respond to any danger to its national security because it has successfully established deterrence, he continued.
"Simply stating that we have implemented adequate security measures is insufficient. Equally crucial is our ability to ensure that every Indian feels safe from both internal and foreign threats. We can effectively deal with them in line with government laws and policies, but we can also provide deterrence that convincingly persuades them that we have the strength and will to respond to any danger in a way that is best for our national security', the NSA stated.
