Due to the lack of rakes and continuous interruptions along the coastal network following Cyclone Montha's landfall, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the cancellation of two important passenger trains that run between Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana.
An official notice from ECoR states that Train No. 12703 Howrah–Secunderabad, which was supposed to leave Howrah on October 30, 2025, and Train No. 22204 Secunderabad–Visakhapatnam, which was supposed to leave Secunderabad on October 29, 2025, have been cancelled.
Following a significant weather-induced disruption, railway officials claimed "non-availability of rakes" as the reason for the cancellation. They advised customers to be aware of the changes before making travel plans.
Because of earlier safety precautions taken during the cyclone, the rakes for these long-distance services were either stranded or rescheduled, which had an impact on following train operations. Debris removal, track inspection, and normalisation of movement throughout the impacted divisions are all part of the restoration process.
