Four temples are broken into in a single night; gold decorations and crowns are gone.

Residents of Simulia in the Balasore district are frightened by a wave of thefts after criminals committed two significant crimes late Saturday night: a rash bike theft in a crowded market area and a string of temple break-ins.
Four temples—Mangala Temple, Radha Krishna Temple, Mahishasuri Temple, and Siddha Basuli Temple—in Patana village, which is under the Anandpur panchayat of Simulia police boundaries, were the targets of the first robbery incident.
Before escaping under cover of darkness, the burglars stole gold and silver jewellery valued at many lakhs, including necklaces, idol crowns, Radha Krishna's silver flute, and Goddess Mangala's gold "mangal sutra."

In another instance, Basakrishna Majhi, the proprietor of a saree business in Markona's Baunsakhunta hamlet, which is under the jurisdiction of the Soro police, was shopping when a motorbike was taken from outside the store. CCTV footage of the entire incident shows the burglar expertly riding off with the car. At the Simulia Police Station, Majhi has filed a complaint.
As recurring crimes continue to undermine police efficacy in the area, local residents have called for more stringent night patrols and prompt action against the offenders.
"I came here to drop off my older son at the bus stop in Markona. I dropped my younger kid off at the bus terminal and went to get him a dress.

The man went on to say, "A CCTV system at a nearby bank recorded the entire incident."
