From waste to wealth: How women in a town near Jamshedpur recycle plastic

In our Good News segment, see this inspiring story from Gobarghusi village, 60 km from Jamshedpur, where a group of women is successfully 'finding value in garbage'. These women gather used plastics and old garments from about 10 adjacent villages to make a variety of useful goods. Their handcrafted items, which include flower vases, baskets, plates, and caps made of plastic, as well as doormats made from discarded clothes, have reached big markets in Delhi and Mumbai. The goods cost between Rs 50 and Rs 600, giving the women a monthly revenue of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000.

This recycling movement, which began a year ago, intends to reduce the environmental damage caused over the last 30 years while also offering a sustainable livelihood. The show also teases a unique roundtable chat with Sunil Gavaskar ahead of the T20 World Cup.
