According to an official release, Kohima, Nagaland received ₹4.78 crore from the North Eastern Council in November for a number of programs, including infrastructure for youth and sports, tourism development, and assistance for indigenous cultural activities.
According to the NEC, the financial release was included in its monthly report on project sanctions and execution throughout the northeastern states.
The council released a total of ₹56.22 crore across all eight states in November to support research and innovation-based projects, cultural events, seminars, infrastructure development, and livelihood enhancement, according to the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region and the NEC Secretariat in Shillong.
According to a statement released by the Information and Public Relations department on Tuesday, the NEC's support for Nagaland encompasses vital sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture and related activities, tourism, culture and heritage, education, skill development, livelihood promotion, and innovation.
The council reaffirmed its dedication to close interaction with state authorities and timely fund flow.
According to the announcement, NEC provided ₹14.89 crore to various federal agencies and cultural organizations in addition to state-specific allocations to promote academic engagements and regional events.
Community development for indigenous groups, animal feed production facilities, scientific pig breeding facilities, piggery value chain infrastructure, documentation of traditional medicinal knowledge, and tele-education expansion through smart virtual classrooms were among the major project interventions that took place during the month.
Additionally, Manipur's sports infrastructure development was encouraged.
The NEC announced the completion of a skill training center and rainwater reservoirs for fire safety in Nagaland, a project approved in March 2023.
Rainwater harvesting reservoirs in Dimapur and Khuzama, as well as infrastructure improvements at the Chiechama skill training center, are part of the plan.
According to the DIPR release, the initiative is anticipated to greatly improve fire safety readiness and offer organized training for young people looking to work in fire and emergency services.
