India continues to hold the top spot in the ICC T20I rankings

India, the three-time World Cup winners, held the top spot in the ICC T20I rankings on Tuesday. England and Australia came in second and third, respectively. In March, when they co-hosted the T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka, India made history by becoming the first side to successfully defend their championship and win it for a record-extending third time. According to the ICC's website, "the most recent rankings rate all matches played since May 2025 at 100% and those of the previous two years at 50%.
"Australia is positioned closer to England at third place with 258 points, while India sees their lead over England (262 points) trimmed by just one point at 275 points," the report continued.

Australia, a one-time champion, has 258 rating points, compared to 262 for two-time winners England.
The top seven teams in the ICC T20I rankings are still ranked as follows: New Zealand (247), South Africa (244), Pakistan (240), and the West Indies (233).
However, Bangladesh (225) moved up one spot to eighth place, while Sri Lanka (221) lost six rating points and fell to ninth. Afghanistan (220) is ranked tenth, narrowly behind Sri Lanka.

Ireland is ranked 12th, and Zimbabwe is placed 11th.
The ICC stated, "The USA, cricket's rising force in North America, have leapfrogged two spots after gaining six points, seeing themselves rise to 13th place, overtaking the Netherlands and Scotland, who are at 14th and 15th ranks, respectively."
"Namibia remained in 16th place, but Nepal (17th) and Oman (19th) both moved up one spot, surpassing the UAE (18th) and Canada (20th), respectively." The number of teams being ranked has dropped from 102 to 98, according to the ICC.

According to the ICC, "the number of teams in the rankings is down from 102 to 98 because Fiji, Gambia, Greece, and Israel did not make the cut because they did not play the required eight T20Is in the past three years."
