In response to the worsening air quality in smog-choked Delhi, which has been recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) in the "poor" and "very poor" categories for days, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress issued new condemnation.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed on its X feed that the famous building had "disappeared" after posting a picture of the hardly discernible India Gate in the midst of the Capital's haze.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the majority of mobile phone apps were using information from government air quality monitoring stations.
The majority of apps that display the AQI on your phones use information from the national and Delhi governments' AQI monitoring stations.
The iPhone's weather app exclusively uses information from the DPCC, CPCB, and IMD government monitoring stations. The US embassy is one of the few applications with its own monitoring station, according to Bharadwaj.
In addition to the AAP and Congress, Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), called the pollution in Delhi "worrisome." The tactics used to conceal the actual AQI numbers are even more concerning. What obstacle must the Union and State Governments overcome in order to acknowledge the reality and reach a socio-political agreement on climate action? Thackeray posted a question on X.
AAP alleges tampering with AQI data
Bharadwaj was spotted outside an AQI monitoring station in Delhi in a video that was uploaded to X.The trucks were allegedly spraying water "day and night around" the pollution monitoring station, according to Bharadwaj.
"The Pollution Monitoring Centre at ISBT is being sprayed with water day and night so that the machines display lower AQI readings and false data can be presented to the world," the AAP stated on X.
Delhi is covered with smog, according to Priyanka Gandhi, "like a grey shroud."
On Sunday, Wayanad MP and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi urged Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to act to ameliorate the situation in the Capital.
It is really startling to fly back to Delhi from Wayanad first, followed by Bachwara in Bihar. In a post on X, Priyanka compared the pollution that surrounds this metropolis to a murky cloud that has been placed over it.
In addition to saying that they would all "support and cooperate" with any action taken by the federal government and state governments, the Wayanad MP asked all political leaders to "get together regardless of our political compulsions."
Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary in-charge of communications for the Congress, meanwhile, emphasised the research from the IIT Delhi-based Centre for Atmospheric Sciences. He added that ₹34 crore had been spent on the trials and that the research "makes it clear that winter cloud seeding will not help improve the atrocious air quality in Delhi in any significant manner."Outrage on social media over the Delhi Marathon
Social media users were outraged by videos showing a marathon and fitness rally being held in Delhi despite the Capital's declining AQI.
"Delhi is the first city globally to host a fitness cycle rally in AQI 500+." "Worse: People are really taking part!" wrote one person.
"Who plans such gatherings in Delhi when the AQI is surpassing 500 levels? There are marathons and cycling competitions planned, so stay inside and avoid any physically demanding activities outside when you need to mask up, someone else suggested.
