Indian Man Stabs Two Teens With Metal Fork On US-Germany Flight, Arrested

According to a statement from the US Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts, Praneeth Kumar Usiripalli, an Indian national, has been accused in the US with allegedly slapping a passenger on a Lufthansa flight from Chicago to Germany and stabbing two teens with a metal fork.
Usiripalli allegedly used a metal fork to stab a 17-year-old passenger in the shoulder before attacking another 17-year-old and stabbing him in the back of the skull with the same fork, according to court documents.The 28-year-old accused struck his left clavicle area with the fork and then lunged to assault the second victim, who was lacerated on the back of his head. The first victim was asleep in a middle seat when he woke up and saw Usiripalli standing over him.
In a bizarre turn of events, Usiripalli raised his hand to construct an imaginary pistol, put it in his mouth, and pressed the trigger as crew members tried to stop him. Then he turned and gave a female passenger a slap. Additionally, he attempted to slap a crew member.

Usiripalli was arrested at Boston Logan International Airport after the flight was rerouted there after the incident. The accused entered the US on a student visa and does not now have "lawful status" there.
One count of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to cause bodily harm while on an aircraft in the US's special aircraft jurisdiction has been brought against Usiripalli in the US District Court.
He could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000 if found guilty.
The news announcement stated that Usiripalli was enrolled in a master's program in biblical studies.
