Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister pays tribute to Kannada actor Harish Rai, who starred in the KGF series, after he battled cancer.

After a protracted fight with cancer, veteran Kannada actor Harish Rai, best known for his iconic parts in Om and the KGF series alongside actor Yash, passed away. He was fifty-five. His wife and two boys survive him.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar confirmed his departure and expressed his condolences on X (previously Twitter). "The death of the well-known villain actor in Kannada cinema, Harish Rai, is a very sad occasion. Shivakumar commented in Kannada, "The death of Harish Roy, who had cancer, has made the film industry poorer."

"Harish Roy had acted wonderfully and attracted everyone's attention in films like Om, Hello Yama, as well as KGF and KGF 2," he continued. I pray that God gives his family and loved ones the strength to deal with this loss and that his soul finds peace. Om Shanti.

Harish Rai starred in a number of popular films over his career, including Samara, Bangalore Underworld, Jodihakki, Raj Bahadur, Sanju Weds Geetha, Swayamvara, and Nalla. He was a star actor in every production he worked on because of his ability to portray complex, nuanced characters.
But it was his parts in Prashanth Neel's KGF franchise and Shivarajkumar's cult classic Om that made him famous and solidified his place in the hearts of viewers.

In South Indian film, he was highly regarded for his strong on-screen persona and adaptability, and his passing signifies the end of an era. Throughout his decades-long career, Rai worked on Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films, winning praise from critics and viewers alike.
