At least 20 people were killed after a private bus caught fire close to Chinnatekur hamlet in Kallur mandal early on Friday morning, causing tragedy in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district. When the event occurred, the bus was travelling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru and was run by a private company named Kaveri Travels.
What caused the fire?

After colliding with a motorcycle on the highway close to the Kurnool area, the bus caught fire at around three in the morning. Police claim that "the two-wheeler became trapped beneath the bus and struck the fuel tank, causing an instant explosion and quick flame spread throughout the vehicle."

When the accident occurred, a number of people on the bus were asleep. People had little to no time to flee the burning bus due to the immediate explosion. However, the two bus drivers were among the 21 passengers who survived the disaster.

A Siri, the district collector for Kurnool, reported that 21 of the 41 passengers were safely rescued. "Eleven of the remaining 20 have had their bodies identified thus far. According to news agency PTI, he stated, "Efforts are underway to identify the rest."
PM Modi offers compensation and condolences for the deaths.

In addition to expressing his deep sadness over the disaster, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised ₹2 lakh in compensation for the relatives of the fire victims and ₹50,000 for the injured.

"Very saddened by the deaths caused by an accident in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district." During this trying time, my thoughts are with the impacted individuals and their families. I'm praying for the injured people to heal quickly. Each deceased person's next of kin would get an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF. The Prime Minister's office said that the injured would receive Rs. 50,000: PM.

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed his profound sadness over the disaster, stating, "It is really regrettable that so many people died in the terrible bus fire accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. I wish for the injured people's quick recovery and offer my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
