Malkangiri unrest: Odisha DGP attends the scene of violence and demonstrations over a decapitated womans body

Conflicts between MV-26 and Rakhelguda villages escalated after a woman's decapitated body was found, and tensions are still high in Malkangiri district. Large crowds, arson, and a 24-hour internet service suspension starting Monday night are all consequences of the tragedy.

Headless Body Causes Ongoing Conflict
A Rakhelguda woman reportedly vanished on December 3. The next day, her headless body was discovered by the Dudameta riverside.

According to local reports, when the body was found, a group in MV-26 set houses on fire. At the same time, a protest was held in front of the district collector's office by a significant number of Malkangiri town people.
Tension persisted despite the presence of police officers as several groups assembled in various areas. While some groups mobilized close to town locations and continued to engage in conflict, residents in Rakhelguda gathered with traditional weapons. Due to growing tension, authorities suspended internet connectivity on Monday starting at 6 p.m. for a full day. Despite deployment, the situation did not improve, according to the police. The Director General of Police and other senior police personnel visited the impacted areas to assess the situation on the ground.
The headless body is being examined, according to the police, and they are still searching for the missing head.
