Minutes after getting married, a Kerala couple uses video KYC to swiftly register their marriage.

Even for traditional rites, Kerala's technology-driven approach to governance is changing daily life.
A newlywed couple recently used K-Smart's video KYC system to rapidly finish their marriage registration at a local Panchayat in Kawassery. They were given a completely validated digital certificate the same day.

What typically takes days or weeks was finished in a matter of minutes, demonstrating how Kerala's public services are changing as a result of digital tools.
As they finished their KYC verification, Lavanya and Vishnu, the pair, were observed grinning. Since then, a video that caught the incident has gone viral on social media.

With the title, "Lavanya and Vishnu got married in Kawassery, Kerala, and registered their marriage instantly through Video KYC," the video was posted on X (previously Twitter).Since it was posted on October 23, 2025, the video has received 1.17 lakh views and a large number of comments.

Deshabhimani claims that Panchayat member T Velayudhan demonstrated the fusion of technology and human interaction by posing for pictures with the newlyweds and giving them a printed copy of their certificate in person.
Social media users took notice of the video right away. The process was lauded for being quick and simple.
The speed at which the couple received their certificate astounded many users. Others appreciated that despite the event being conducted online, the Panchayat still brought a personal touch, making it memorable.
The remark "100% literacy for a reason" was made by one person.

Kerala has registered over 1.5 lakh marriages since the launch of K-Smart, with about 63,000 of those marriages being completed by video KYC.
