Mitchell Starc Accepts Vaibhav Sooryavanshis First-Ball Six Challenge: "He Wont Be Jasprit Bumrah"

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, adolescent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of the Rajasthan Royals has established a precedent by starting his account with boundaries against some of the world's top bowlers. On the first ball he faced, he even hit the world's best pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, for a six. When the Rajasthan Royals play the Delhi Capitals in the IPL on Friday, Sooryavanshi will go on Australia's superstar Mitchell Starc. However, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop doesn't think Sooryavanshi could do the same against Starc."No, I believe that Mitchell Starc deserves recognition. The former West Indies pacer stated on ESPNCricinfo, "He won't be Jasprit Bumrah; he'll come better prepared." However, Sooryavanshi is anticipated to face charges as a result of his remark; the 15-year-old views it more as a challenge than a verdict.
In the current IPL season, Sooryavanshi has poleaxed a number of elite bowlers, including Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult, and Jasprit Bumrah.
"I believe he has the psychological makeup necessary to defeat the world's top bowlers. He faced Jasprit Bumrah. According to ESPNcricinfo expert Bishop, "technically, he's kind of unique with his bat swing, more like a baseball sort of swing," he told the reporters.

According to Bishop, there is no obvious weakness in Sooryavanshi's batting, which makes seasoned bowlers desperately search for other strategies to deal with the 15-year-old.
Because the back-of-a-length delivery has worked against him, such as in the under-19 World Cup and against Sunrisers Hyderabad, it is quite difficult to pinpoint his particular fault. However, those identical deliveries vanish from the park if you don't get that back-of-a-length delivery where he pulls and top edges early. In my opinion, he is technically well-positioned. In this event, he has several elite bowlers in plans A, B, C, E, F, and G. And it's encouraging that he has all these seasoned players who had to deal with a variety of strategies while they attempted to go yorker, yorker at him in the last game. Thus, I believe he's well-positioned," he continued.
