For Rs 3.32 crore, the long-neglected Satya Nagar crematorium in Bhubaneswar was restored, greatly improving public facilities. Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra and Mayor Sulochana Das of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officially opened the refurbished crematorium on Friday.
Residents have been inconvenienced by the crematorium's deteriorating state for a number of years. The goal of the renovation is to establish a respectable and well-equipped area for the deceased's final rituals.
A new gas-based cremation system has been installed as part of the remodelling to enable more effective and hygienic cremations. A pond, a temple, restrooms, and a special structure for conducting rites and prayers during burial ceremonies are just a few of the new facilities that have been constructed.
The cost of cremation has been set at Rs 2,000. However, according to Mayor Sulochana Das, the Harischandra Yojana will provide free cremation services to households with ration cards.
The improved Satya Nagar crematorium, according to officials, will guarantee greater municipal amenities for bereaved families and relieve demand on other cremation grounds in the city.
It was essential to build the Satya Nagar crematorium. A pond and restrooms are among the necessary new amenities that have been constructed, according to Mahapatra.
