Norwester deaths: Odisha government announces Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to victims families.

The Odisha government provided financial assistance on Sunday for the relatives of two people killed in a Nor'wester (Kalbaisakhi)-related event in Karanjia, Mayurbhanj district, earlier today.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his condolences on the untimely deaths and provided an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh apiece for the families of the deceased. The compensation was approved as part of the state government's assistance efforts in response to the region's terrible weather conditions.
According to government reports, the deadly occurrence occurred during strong winds and bad weather conditions caused by thunderstorms that struck areas of the Mayurbhanj district. The local administration reported that two persons died in the incident, triggering an instant response from the state government.

The District Collector Hema Kanta Say informed that families of the deceased will receive Rs 4 lakh each as financial support. The government has also been asked to guarantee that the affected families receive compensation as soon as possible.
In addition to financial help, the Chief Minister has directed officials to provide free medical care to individuals harmed in the incident. Local officials have been requested to closely monitor the situation and provide all available assistance to anyone affected.
The state administration reiterated its commitment to providing relief and assistance to those affected by natural catastrophes throughout Odisha.The powerful storm caused havoc in Kia village, with strong winds lashing the region. The abrupt whirlwind caused widespread devastation, uprooting massive trees and utility lines and destroying countless homes.
The storm had such an impact that the powerful winds blew an auto-rickshaw away and tossed it into a nearby pond. According to reports, the storm caused damage to more than 70 houses.
Two people died in the tragedy, while several others were seriously injured. The injured people have been sent to a local hospital for treatment.
