Weather conditions in Odisha have shifted as a result of nor'wester activity, providing reprieve from rising temperatures during the last three days, officials said.
Daytime temperatures have dropped across the state, and gloomy skies with rain and gusty winds have been observed in some districts.
Rain and Thunderstorm Activity
Heavy rain fell in Koraput, Nuapada, and Binika on Wednesday. In Koraput, thunderstorms and rain persisted for about two hours in the evening, causing power outages in various places.
Weather to persist for a week
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that such weather conditions would persist for another week. The impact of thunderstorms and rains is predicted to increase beginning Thursday.
The districts of Nabarangpur and Kalahandi have been issued an orange alert, while Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput, and Malkangiri have received a yellow warning.
According to the IMD, numerous locations in these districts may see thunderstorms with lightning, strong surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph, and probable hailstorms.Expanded Impact Beginning March 20
The meteorological department predicts that thunderstorms will affect more than half of Odisha's districts on March 20. Rainfall is expected in the state's northern, southern, and central regions, along with lightning and gusty winds.
Nor'wester activity is predicted to continue until March 21, according to the IMD.
