Odisha armed robbery: Sundargarh seized gold and Rs 25 lakh in cash at gunpoint

Late Saturday night, in the Sundargarh district of Odisha, an armed robbery occurred close to Hatapada, which is under the jurisdiction of Bonai police. Five masked criminals are accused of breaking into a residence and taking almost Rs 25 lakh in cash and 480 grammes of gold jewellery.
The attackers allegedly beat a widow and her daughter, tied them up, and took the valuables, according to the complaint. During the event, a staff member who was inside the house was also reportedly attacked.

The family reportedly owns a store that sells electrical equipment. The robbers allegedly came to the store first, assaulted the employee, and brandished a gun at him. Then they told him to give the home's owner a call.The bandits broke into the house and attacked the residents when the owner opened the door to give the employee the medication.
After strangling the mother and daughter, the criminals allegedly demanded the safe's keys and tied them up. They took the money and gold out of the safe after opening it. The mother and daughter's gold ornaments were also purportedly stolen.
The jewellery was reportedly saved for the daughter's wedding, while the money was intended for a business deal.
According to the home's owner, "around 12:30 a.m., our shop worker called to let us know he needed medicine while we were asleep." The miscreants rushed into the house when I opened the door with the medication.

One of them shoved me to the ground and said that if I sounded the alarm, he would hurt my daughter.
"There were five miscreants," her daughter said. They made our employee call us after threatening him with a gun. They came in with a rifle and other sharp objects when we opened the door.
Police Are Investigating
In addition to starting an inquiry, Bonai police have informed other police stations, such as Lahunipada and Gurundia, about the event. Authorities said they were confident in finding the criminals quickly.
"We arrived at the location and started the investigation after receiving the report," stated Bonai SDPO Ram Chandra Biswal. Since we have some leads, the case, which is presently being worked on by two teams, should be resolved soon.
