Odisha is still experiencing pre-monsoon rain; IMD is concerned about a potential low pressure system forming over BoB

Several worldwide weather models predict that a low pressure system will develop over the southeast Bay of Bengal around May 10. But there is still ambiguity about its movement and intensity.
The GFS weather model had previously predicted that a low pressure system would likely form over the area. By May 10, the ECMWF model predicted that a low pressure area may emerge close to the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.
Meteorologists stated that it is yet unknown how powerful the system might grow and what path it would finally take after development.
Odisha's Kalbaisakhi Rain Continues
As a result of a trough line that is dominating central India, Odisha has been experiencing rainfall activities associated to Kalbaisakhi. The movement and behaviour of the potential low pressure area may become more apparent from May 11, when the current trough line is predicted to progressively decrease, according to weather experts.
Due to the current weather, pre-monsoon showers and thunderstorm activity have persisted in several areas of the state during the past few days.
IMD has not yet released a projection.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not yet released an official forecast regarding the potential formation of a low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, despite the predictions made by various global weather models.
