On Saturday, elephants in the Ganjam region of Odisha trampled a man to death. The incident happened in Belatuni hamlet, which is part of the North Ghumsar forest division's Mujagada forest range. Bikram Nayak has been identified as the dead.
Two elephants are said to have come into the community at night, dragged Bikram from his home, and then trampled him to death. Soon after the occurrence, forest officials arrived on the scene, retrieved the body, and started an investigation.
Elephant Threat in the Region of North Ghumsar
According to accounts, as elephant encroachment occurrences in the Mujagada forest area continue, local inhabitants are becoming increasingly concerned. Elephants have been bursting into neighbouring villages, destroying homes, and destroying crops for a few days.
Villagers have been advised to remain vigilant, particularly at night, by the forest department, which has been keeping an eye on the situation.
A sizable herd of elephants was spotted in Keonjhar.
A herd of 29 elephants was sighted on a road close to Champua in the Keonjhar district in a different development. According to reports, the herd moved back to the Champua range from Karanjia in Mayurbhanj. According to officials, the elephants entered the forest through Padmapur hamlet after crossing the Baitarani River.
Ten tuskers, seven calves, and twelve female elephants make up the herd. According to reports, one calf is hurt. The same gang had relocated to the Karanjia range from Champua two weeks prior.
