Operation Sindoor, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, demonstrated India's tough stance against terrorism and reiterated the nation's dedication to preserving national security.
The Prime Minister commended the Indian military's bravery, accuracy, and professionalism in responding to the terror incident in Pahalgam as the operation entered its first year.
"A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision, and resolve during Operation Sindoor," PM Modi wrote in a post on X. At Pahalgam, they responded appropriately to those who dared to attack defenceless Indians. The country as a whole honours our troops for their bravery. India's strong response to terrorism and steadfast dedication to preserving national security were demonstrated by Operation Sindoor.

Additionally, it demonstrated our military forces' professionalism, readiness, and coordinated power. At the same time, it highlighted the strength that India's pursuit of defence sector self-reliance has given to our national security and demonstrated the increasing unity among our forces. One year later, we are still unwavering in our determination to eradicate terrorism and the ecosystem that supports it," the post stated.
On the anniversary of the military operation, Prime Minister Modi changed his display picture on X to "Operation Sindoor" in honour of the bravery and heroism of the Indian armed forces.Initiated on May 7, 2025, in reaction to the terror assault in Pahalgam that killed 26 innocent citizens, Operation Sindoor demonstrated a calibrated, tri-services response that represented accuracy, professionalism, and purpose.
Operation Sindoor was designed as a targeted and punishing campaign to destroy the militant infrastructure both inside Pakistan and across the Line of Control.
Nine significant camps that were ultimately the focus of the operation were confirmed by multi-agency intelligence. India's retaliatory action was carried out with the least amount of collateral damage possible thanks to careful planning and an intelligence-led strategy. The mission was centred on operational ethics, and caution was used to prevent harm to civilians.

Pakistan launched a series of retaliatory drone and UCAV operations against important Indian airbases and logistical assets following Operation SINDOOR. However, India's extensive and multi-layered air defence system successfully thwarted these attacks. The Integrated Command and Control Strategy (ICCS), which enabled real-time threat identification, assessment, and interception across several domains, was essential to this achievement.
There was operational coordination among the forces in every area of Operation Sindoor, and the government, agencies, and departments provided full assistance.
The operation, which took place on land, in the air, and at sea, was a flawless example of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy working together. Delivering precise strikes against militant infrastructure throughout Pakistan was made possible in large part by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

It carried out high-impact air operations on targets including the Nur Khan Air Base and the Rahimyar Khan Air Base, and during formal briefings, visual proof of the damage was displayed.
When retaliatory drone and UAV strikes came from across the border, the Air Force's strong air defence system was crucial in defending Indian airspace. Legacy platforms like the Pechora and OSA-AK, as well as the domestically manufactured Akash surface-to-air missile system, were successfully implemented in a tiered defence grid. Throughout the fight, Indian troops were able to effectively eliminate aerial threats and maintain net-centric operations because to the IAF's Integrated Air Command and Control System, which allowed for real-time coordination of air assets.

The Indian Army simultaneously proved its readiness and efficiency in both offensive and defensive capacities. Together with the Air Force, the Army's air defence forces deployed a variety of equipment, from long-range SAMs to shoulder-fired MANPADS and LLAD cannons. These systems played a crucial role in thwarting Pakistani drone and loitering munitions attacks. Indian forces were able to guarantee the security of both military and civilian facilities in spite of Pakistan's persistent attempts to cause harm.
During Operation SINDOOR, the Indian Navy was instrumental in establishing maritime supremacy. The Navy used its Carrier Battle Group (CBG), which was outfitted with MiG-29K fighter jets and airborne early warning helicopters, to operate as a composite networked force.

This made it possible to continuously monitor the maritime realm and identify dangers in real time. Particularly from the Makran coast, hostile aerial intrusions were stopped by the CBG's strong air defence umbrella.
By effectively bottling off Pakistani air units along their western shoreline and denying them any operational space, the Navy's presence served as a potent deterrent. In order to further highlight India's preparedness and strategic reach in the area, naval pilots carried out round-the-clock sorties. In a complicated threat environment, the Navy's ability to establish uncontested control over the seas justified its anti-missile and anti-aircraft defensive capabilities.

In the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Border Security Force (BSF) was instrumental in stopping a significant infiltration attempt along the International Border during Operation Sindoor. Early in the morning, BSF troops saw suspicious movement and reacted quickly, sparking a fierce gunfight. At least two infiltrators were successfully neutralised by the BSF during the subsequent engagement, and weapons, ammunition, and other war-related supplies were collected.
The action demonstrated the BSF's alertness, operational readiness, and vital role in preserving border security in times of increased tension. Thus, Operation Sindoor was a strategic statement as well as a tactical victory.
