Police team attacked during search on illegal booze sales in Odishas Keonjhar

On Thursday evening, two police officers were injured after allegedly being attacked by liquor sellers during a raid on the illegal liquor trade in Balitota village, Patna police station boundaries, in Odisha's Keonjhar district.
The injured people have been named as Saharapada outpost officer Partha Oram and female constable Hemalata Naik. Both were rescued and taken to the Patna Hospital for treatment.
Raid on Illicit Liquor Trade
According to police sources, a squad from the Saharapada outpost raided Balitota hamlet after getting information regarding illegal wine sales in the area.The squad, lead by outpost officer Partha Oram and accompanied by women constable Hemalata Naik, arrived in the village to carry out the operation.
However, during the raid, liquor traffickers allegedly staged a surprise attack on police officers.
Police Officers Injured
During the assault, the attackers allegedly hit outpost officer Partha Oram in the head with a stone, leaving him bleeding and gravely injured. Hemalata Naik, a woman constable, was also injured in the event.Both injured soldiers were later rescued from the scene and transported to Patna Hospital for medical care.
Police investigation is underway.
Following the event, Patna police conducted a thorough investigation into the attack and the alleged illegal booze trade in the neighborhood.
Bijaya Mohapatra, the SDPO of Ghatagaon, stated that the police squad had gone to perform a raid when the attack occurred."They were attacked while raiding the illicit booze trade in Balitota village. "Partha Oram and a female constable were assaulted," he stated.
