In a world where selfies, stories, and status updates have become part of everyday life, social media has taken over as one of the most powerful and addictive tools of modern communication. Whether it’s sharing personal milestones or tracking global events, most individuals, especially public figures, are deeply immersed in it. However, there are still a few who choose to remain detached from the digital limelight.
One such person is Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who has revealed the reason behind his decision to stay away from social media platforms, despite being one of the top names in international cricket.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Danish Salt, Hazlewood was asked why he has never been active on social media. His response was as grounded as his personality.
“I think that’s probably the small-town country boy in me, I guess. I’ve never really gone into it—maybe a tiny bit back in high school. I’ve just never been that interested,” he said.
Hazlewood also pointed to the darker side of social media, referencing conversations with fellow Australian teammates about the relentless negativity often found online.
“There’s so much negative talk on social media, regardless of the platform. I’ve seen players get dragged down by it when their performance dips. It’s never appealed to me. I enjoy the freedom of being away from it.”
Back in Action for RCB – And Making Headlines Anyway
Ironically, while Hazlewood avoids social media, he’s currently trending across platforms due to his return to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025. After initial doubts surrounding his fitness due to a shoulder niggle, the Aussie speedster has made a powerful comeback, bolstering RCB’s bowling attack.
He is RCB's go-to bowler with 18 wickets, becoming a key figure in the team’s success so far this season.
