The BJP made fun of Mamata Banerjee after the Indian womens cricket team won the World Cup by saying, "OMG, they were playing till 12."

After West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the Indian women's cricket team on winning their first World Cup, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a vicious jab at her.
"OMG they were playing till 12!" the BJP commented on X, referencing Banerjee's post on X (previously Twitter), in which she praised the Indian women's cricket team for their significant victory. However, you instructed them to return home by eight o'clock.
At the time, Mamata Banerjee had requested that private schools in her state forbid kids from leaving the house after midnight in response to the rape case.

"We're not supporting anyone, but it's unacceptable for girls to leave campus in this manner at night. It shouldn't be permitted by the private institution. Everyone has the freedom to travel about, but students who live in dorms should have a structure in place," she continued.
Banerjee later asserted that her statements were misrepresented, despite the fact that they had provoked national uproar.
Refusing to let Banerjee's comments fade away, the BJP raked them up on the Sunday and Monday evenings following the success of the Indian women's cricket team.

Banerjee referred to the ladies in blue as "heroes" after they defeated South Africa at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, securing a massive World Cup triumph.
"The whole country is so proud of our Women in Blue today for what they accomplished in the World Cup final. Generations of young ladies will find inspiration in their battle and command throughout the tournament," she wrote in a post on X.
"You have demonstrated that you are a top-tier team at the highest level, and you provided us with some incredibly outstanding moments. Our heroes are you. You have a lot of bigger wins ahead of you. "We support you!" she continued.
