With 14 candidates officially still in the running following the completion of the withdrawal procedure on Friday, the political tension in Odisha's Nuapada is intensifying ahead of the by-election. Election officials said that 19 candidates had submitted their candidacy at the outset. None of the remaining candidates withdrew their papers, and five of these were turned down at the inspection stage.
With Jay Dholakia of the BJP, Snehangini Chhuria of the BJD, and Ghasiram Majhi of the Congress emerging as the main competitors, the race is predicted to become triangular.
On November 11, the Nuapada by-election will go to the polls. On November 14, the results will be counted and announced.
Campaigns Are Started in Every Constituency
All three of the major political parties—the Congress, the BJD, and the BJP—have started putting their campaign plans into action as the election date draws closer. To build their ground presence and engage voters, senior officials from both parties are actively travelling to different parts of the electorate.
Pravati Parida, the deputy chief minister of Odisha, is scheduled to begin her campaigning for the BJP in Nuapada on Saturday. During her visit, she is anticipated to speak to female voters and emphasise the Subhadra Yojana's features.
Snehangini Chhuria, a BJD candidate, has also begun her campaign activities. According to reports, she will travel to many communities inside Komna Block.
Congress Increases Outreach at the Local Level
With the start of its outreach program in the Komna and Nuapada blocks on Saturday, the Congress campaign is also gaining momentum. Bhakta Das, the president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), has been to Nuapada to spearhead the campaign with a number of high-ranking officials and MLAs. In an effort to win over voters, they have been going door-to-door and talking to locals.
The Nuapada by-election is a highly anticipated political event in the state as all parties are trying to rally their support bases ahead of election day as campaigning continues throughout the area.
