The Odisha government has announced plans to expand Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

The Odisha government has indicated plans to raise the seating capacity of Cuttack's historic Barabati Stadium, which could soon undergo a major expansion. Following Team India's convincing victory over South Africa in a Twenty20 match on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi raised the prospect of renovating the storied venue.
A proposal to increase the number of spectators at Barabati Stadium is already being considered, according to CM Majhi. Stakeholders will address the issue, and a decision is anticipated soon. Enhancing the facilities of one of the oldest cricket grounds in Odisha is still a top priority, he continued.
"The plan to expand the stadium's capacity has been considered by the administration. CM Majhi stated that a decision in this regard will be made shortly.

Sanjay Behera, the secretary of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), affirmed that ideas for expansion are being investigated. Behera claims that formal recommendations are expected to be submitted to the authorities shortly and that talks on modernization and capacity enhancement are moving forward.

"I want to congratulate everyone on a job well done on hosting the game. Renovating Barabati Stadium is my only goal. With all of our combined efforts, I am optimistic that it will be completed shortly," Behera remarked.
"We were confident of winning," stated Sofia Firdous, a Cuttack MLA. I'm optimistic that the Odisha government would take all required actions to improve and develop the ancient Barabati stadium.

If authorized, the project might put Barabati Stadium in a better position to host more international matches and provide the state's cricket fans with better amenities.
