The School and Mass Education Department has warned school administrators not to interfere with instructors and employees assigned to census-related tasks, threatening severe consequences for noncompliance.
The department issued the warning after learning that a number of school administrators allegedly failed to relieve instructors assigned to census tasks. The agency has taken the situation seriously and issued a new guideline directing all schools to release the affected teaching and non-teaching staff for the national exercise right away.
The government claims that all personnel assigned to the assignment are legally required to participate in the census, which is a mandated national responsibility under the rules of the Census Act, 1948. The agency made it clear that once professors are formally deputed for the exercise, institutions are not allowed to withhold or postpone their release.
According to officials, the census is an essential administrative procedure that aids the government in creating development plans and social programs based on precise demographic data. The timely completion of the activity could be impacted by any roadblock. The department also emphasised that no teacher should be barred from performing census-related tasks needlessly. It has warned that, in accordance with government regulations, any school administration found to be disobeying directives or purposefully erecting obstacles will be subject to severe disciplinary punishment.
