Actor Ratna Pathak Shah wrote a moving ode to her close friend and co-star Satish Shah from Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, who died of cardiac arrest not long ago. She recalled her last encounter with the seasoned actor, a light-hearted WhatsApp message that now seems to be his farewell joke, in an emotional note.
Satish Shah is honoured by Ratna Pathak Shah.
In an article for the Indian Express, Ratna mentioned that she got a message from Satish on October 25 at 12:57 PM that said, "I'm often mistaken for an adult because of my age." At 2:14 PM, she responded amusingly, "That's just right for you!" At 3:49 PM, barely two hours later,Producer JD Majethia sent her the startling word, "Satishbhai is no more!" at 3:49 PM.
It seemed like someone was pulling a fast one in bad taste at first. It seemed even more unbelievable when it set in. The satish is gone! A man resolved to embrace life to the fullest, laugh at it, and endure every setback with a smile, he wrote.
She talked about their friends' bewilderment and incredulity, as they messaged each other furiously in amazement since none knew how to respond. That day, he had sent similar jovial texts to a number of others.
The two performers were close friends off-screen for decades and had a famous on-screen partnership as Maya and Indravadan Sarabhai in the popular sitcom Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai. The passing of Satish Shah signifies the end of a time when millions of people were moved by his easy humour and warmth.
